Kubernetes – Docker orchestration system

By | February 25, 2015

An interesting tool that allows you to run containers on different cloud providers.

Kubernetes is an open source orchestration system for Docker containers. It handles scheduling onto nodes in a compute cluster and actively manages workloads to ensure that their state matches the users declared intentions. Using the concepts of “labels” and “pods”, it groups the containers which make up an application into logical units for easy management and discovery.

With Kubernetes powering both your private and public cloud you’ll be able to unlock the power of a hybrid infrastructure. For example, you might run a primary instance of your application in a private cloud, and then replicate other instances to Google Container Engine in geographies where you don’t have on-premises infrastructure.
